Review: Juvia’s Place The Nubian 2 Eyeshadow Palette

If there was one indie brand that really burst onto the scene this year, I’d have to say it was Juvia’s Place. Their three eyeshadow palettes have been blazing through the internet – from blogger reviews to traditional media taking notice – these palettes have been everywhere! Now that I’ve finally got my hands on one (thanks to my bestie JLat), I’ve got the whole scoop on The Nubian 2 palette. Keep reading to find out this one is now the love of my life!

I’ve been playing with this palette way more than I’d like to admit over the weekend! In fact, I love it so much that for my lunch break today, I used it to do my eyes instead of eating. I gave up food for this palette! That is TRUE love.

But I just HAD to see how Jezebel looked in my crease as a jazzy daytime look, and I’m so glad I did because I absolutely love it. This palette has everything in it. Bold mattes, transition colors, sparkling shimmers, you name it, this palette has it. I’d read reviews by other bloggers and seen swatches, so I’d already made up in my mind that this was a 10/10, but swatching it with my own fingers was literally an amazing experience! And I’m so delighted that this product is produced by a B.O.M.B (Black Owned Makeup Brand).

Getting into my favorites, I’d have to say that Cleopatra and Egypt stood out to me the most the second I opened the palette. I’m a sucker for bold colored shadows! But I think the stunners for me, after I began to play with it, are the mattes! There are a ton of palettes out there that do shimmers really, really well only to throw in 2-3 matte shades as an afterthought because consumers expect them. That typically leads to a huge discrepancy in formula since they were not in focus from the beginning.

However, with this palette, you can literally feel the attention to detail in the pigmentation of everything. Morocco and Madagascar (which matches my skin PERFECTLY) are definitely going to be in heavy rotation for me as I start off every look I create with a color that matches my skin and an orange shade to add dimension behind my transition shade. It’s truly become a habit and I’m thrilled to have some huge pans I can dig into!

Now if we go back and talk shimmers a minute, I’m loving Leyla and Nefertiti. These are two shades that weren’t stand out to me in the packaging (although super gorgeous still), they applied so beautifully and were the first shimmers I picked out for my first eye look with this palette.
If you are a shimmer fiend, you must truly consider this palette. It’s super affordable and the huge pans will last you a lifetime. Unless you are like me and you are going to devour this palette like no one’s business. I’m already plotting my next look with this bad boy, are you?
