Looxi Beauty is bringing groovy back with a new collection of shimmer eyeshadows inspired by the 1960s and ’70s! The twelve ALL NEW shades each have their own WOW factor, but there are several in particular that are ‘blow-your-socks-off’ worthy. Keep reading to find out which ones you have to buy NOW (+ pictures)!

Is there a support group for Looxi Beauty addicts? I think I need to join.I’ve got so many Looxi shadows floating around in my thousand z palettes, it would be safe to assume that any single shade I randomly picked up is from Looxi. So when they announced they were dropping their first palette, I was like NEEEEEDD. I dreamt of being able to keep all the shades from this collection safe, sound, and together under one mirrored “roof” for easy access. Now that I’ve had a chance to play with said palette of my dreams for about two weeks now, I’m ready to share my thoughts!

Here’s a summary of my thoughts: skip the palette and purchase five of the singles.

Ouch! Even writing that seemed a little harsh from a Looxi lover like me, but give me a chance to explain myself.

For my brown beauties who understand the pain of beauty products not showing up the same on our skintone as with our fairer sisters, four of the shades swatched within a half shade of each other on my arm. You are better off just purchasing one and using it for a variety of different looks. Shades that appeared a warm, rosy gold on me: California Dreaming (champagne gold), Penny Lane (copper gold), Far Out (Ft. Knox gold), and Tiny Dancer (bronze gold). The only shade that showed up significantly different from the others via swatch was Far Out, but my favorite performer of the bunch is Penny Lane. It can be subtly for a wash of gold or really amped up for the full copper effect.

With that out of the way, let’s chat standouts. My favorites from this collection are: Flower Child, Piece of My Heart, Hashbury, and Woodstock. These shades are all unique to my collection – especially Flower Child which shines as a cool, pale lavender. I’m a sucker for a good gunmetal and Hashbury more than delivers on color and pigmentation. Piece of My Heart was the first one that caught my eye during swatches. All red shadows scream my name, but red shimmers just make my heart smile. Finally, the most unique shade (in my opinion) is Woodstock. Woodstock has this gorgeous blue/purple/seafoam duochrome shift. I can’t quite figure out what it is because it’s so subtle and well blended, but it has spring 2017 written all over it.

Finally, I want to chat a little about the palette itself. The Free Love collection comes separately (as singles) or enclosed in a customized palette. The palette is a long, black rectangle with 12 magnetized pots on the inside. Each pot fits a standard shadow and you can easily pop shadows in and out. There is a mirror on the inside cover that spans the entire length of the cover. This might sound great, but I find this construction a little bulky. It’s a very sturdy and I would feel great about traveling with it and not worry at all about my shadows making it in one piece. However, for “everyday” use, I have no need for something so large. Additionally, at $70 for all 12 shades and the palette, I think the price of it all is a bit steep. I’d prefer smaller pans in a smaller palette or maybe a maximum of eight regular size shadows in the size of a medium z palette. With Looxi’s future palettes, I hope they play around with the packaging a little! You have some freedom to do that as a smaller brand.

With all that said, here’s my list of must haves (in order): Woodstock, Hashbury, Piece of My Heart, Flower Child, and Far Out.

Now that you know what I like, I want to know what YOU ordered! Let me know in the comments below!
