First Impression: Looxi Beauty Spring 2017 Collection ‘Mattes and Metallics’

Spring is right around the corner and Looxi Beauty is making sure your eyelids are bright and your cheekbone highlight goes from 0 to Mariah Carey (more on that later).  Looxi Beauty’s collection of 12 matte eyeshadows and four amazing metallic highlighters are just calling your name! More on them plus swatches below!

Looxi Beauty Powder Highlighter in ‘Honey’

I must admit, I’m always a little hesitant to open up a new package of Looxi matte shadows, but the brand has come SO far in their matte formula so I’m usually optimistic. This time is no different. After seeing a lot of sneak peeks on Looxi’s Instagram, I happily skipped to the mailbox when I discovered my PR package had arrived.

To make my package even sweeter, Jess sent me five upcoming highlighters as well. In my opinion, Looxi Beauty’s highlighters are their bread and butter. Affordable, fantasically buttery, and have the ability to look great on a variety of skin tones, these babies are just EVERYTHING. After spending the weekend playing with the shadows and the highlighters, I’m happy to share my first impression with you.

Starting with the shadows, there are definitely some standouts here. I swatched them all here with a brush over primer because my finger swatches just weren’t doing them justice. Probably the formula clashing with my finger oils or something. By swatching with the brush, you can clearly see how they apply and judge for yourself how they perform.

The first four from the left are a little too light for my taste. I rarely use pastels on myself, often opting for richer, bolder tones. However, these would look gorgeous as everyday shadows on lighter skintones. Moving from the shade ‘Honeybun’ on right, I’ve found some of my favorite Looxi mattes ever. I can say without a doubt that the four blush tones (I forgot to swatch ‘Heartbreaker’, my deepest apologies!) are a must for every collection. I’m wearing all four in the first image of this post and you can see how gorgeous they look blended into the skin. Finally, the smokier ‘Over It’, ‘Taupelessly Devoted’ and ‘Till Death’ round out a stellar mix of eight WOC friendly shades.

After checking out those swatches, you can tell I saved the best for last can’t you? I’m such a fan of Looxi’s highlighters that I forgot to take pictures of the pans in their pristine condition. I started swatching and drooling immediately and completely forgot to show off the new ‘LOOXI’ imprint each highlighter has. For my WOC, ‘Mimosa’, ‘Guilty Pleasure’, and ‘Honey’ are definitely flattering. ‘Honey’ is probably going to replace something in my current top five favorite highlighters. It’s a dupe for MAC Cosmetics x Mariah Carey ‘My Mimi’ EDSF released last December, but it is less glittery so I actually like Looxi’s version MORE because of it. ‘Guilty Pleasure’ is a dupe for MAC Cosmetics most lusted after EDSF, ‘Whisper of Gilt’. If you don’t have it, get this. If you do have it, save that one as a collectors item and get this to use day-to-day. I desperately hold onto my ‘Whisper of Gilt’ – just in case!

Any of these highlighters or shadows tickle your fancy? Who’s purchasing what? Let me know in the comments!
