When MAC announced the return of one of its most popular formulas, people went wild. Now as the extra dimension skinfinishes have begun a gradual re-release (slowly with Oh Darling! in 2015 and now a slew of shades in 2017), everyone is in a frenzy to get their hands on them once again. I purchased two shades, Superb (repromote) and Glow With It (new), to try out for myself. My thought? Read on below!
I’ve been rocking with Give Me Glow Cosmetics since their “lip-hybrid-in-a-jar” days. I’m talking Lime Crime Cashmere dupe days! And they continue to produce some of my favorite lip products of all time. However, this Spring they are launching into the world of eyeshadow palettes and I’ve got extraordinarily high hopes for their first palette. If you are skeptical, check out the swatches below!
In 2017, we are continuing the ‘Year of the Glow’ at SBD headquarters. It’s only right that all retailers do the same! Anastasia Beverly Hills clearly got the memo because the brand is about to release their second Glow Kit of the year: Aurora. This 6-pan palette is described as the Moonchild Glow Kit’s ‘sister’ due to the similar holographic shade range they share between them. I’m a fan of Moonchild, so it’s safe to say that I will be picking this one up as well. Keep scrolling for pictures!
After seeing @futilitiesmore Makeup Geek dupe swatches of the Jeffree Star Androgyny palette, I was inspired to look to my shadow collection to find some dupes for the ten gorgeous shades. I thought I cam pretty close on most of them. Some of the colors (like the shimmery bronze gold) are staples in most collections, so don’t be afraid to dig around in your stash to see what you’ve got. Let me know how I did down below in the comments!
After months of teasing, Sola Look has finally released details on their much-anticipated Dirty Dancing collection. If you remember the brand’s all-matte Flashdance collab, you are in for a real treat this time. I wasn’t ready for the goodness that makes up an eye and face palette PLUS a liquid lipstick and I don’t think you will be either. This collection is a must see for all my Dirty Dancing lovers out there! Keep reading for more pictures of the palette shades and the lipstick!
Spring is right around the corner and Looxi Beauty is making sure your eyelids are bright and your cheekbone highlight goes from 0 to Mariah Carey (more on that later). Looxi Beauty’s collection of 12 matte eyeshadows and four amazing metallic highlighters are just calling your name! More on them plus swatches below!
I must admit I went a little crazy when one of my favorite brands announced a collaboration with one of my favorite YouTubers. Excited probably isn’t even the word for my feelings around the debut of the ‘Nicole Glow’ Glow Kit from Anastasia Beverly Hills and Nicole Guerriero. Now that I have my hands on the actual highlighter palette, I’m ready to give you my thoughts so you can decide if you want to purchase for yourself. Keep reading for my two cents and loads of swatches.
Have you ever wanted to be a mermaid? Personally, I’d love to be able to have a sing-a-long with Ariel and her royalty peeps down in the deep, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be! However, with the upcoming release of KG Beauty’s The Mermaid Palette, maybe we can bring that mermaid dream to our eyelids. This upcoming nine-pan palette features a variety of shimmery shades worthy of their names. My favorite is ‘Call me on my Shell Phone’. Keep reading for product pictures and early swatches.
It’s time for another Looxi Beauty eyeshadow collection! But this time, Looxi is switching it up with ten brand new matte shades perfect for all your spring needs. With the last matte launch in fall 2016, Looxi revealed an amazing collection of reformulated mattes with a buttery pigmented texture. I expect nothing less than that this time and I’m excited to see how these will perform. In the meantime, let’s just all drool over preview swatches down below!
Intense pigmentation. Color diversity. Perfect formula. I’d say all this about Juvia’s Place eyeshadows. I have The Nubian, The Nubian 2, and The Masquerade palette and have come to expect nothing else from the brand. Did Juvia’s live up to the hype with the release of their latest palette – The Saharan? Keep reading to find out! (Hint: Take a peek at this look I did using the palette and decide for yourself!)
I was overly thrilled, however, with some of the shades that seemed to be duplicates from other Juvia’s palettes – just renamed. Senegal heavily favors Sheba from ‘The Nubian 2’ and Jamila (although wonderful to have an orange brick transition shade, is nearly identical to Morocco, also from ‘The Nubian 2’. Finally, Bororo is a near identical dupe for Calabar in ‘The Masquerade’ palette. Just something to think about as you look for duplicate shades already in your collection. As you can see, this fact clearly didn’t deter me from purchasing. =)
Unfortunately, I wasn’t that impressed by the mattes in this palette as I have been with the mattes in previous palettes. I had a lot of trouble getting Jamila to swatch with my finger and even more trouble trying to get it on my brush. I felt like I was really digging just to get a tiny bit of product. I prefer Morocco from ‘The Nubian 2’ palette to Jamila. Also, for being a brand with such a reputation for pigmentation, I was disappointed with the performance of Chad. This was Juvia’s chance to make the black of all blacks, but it really fell short for me. Again, I had trouble picking this up with my finger and my brush. I’ll stick to Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘Noir’ or Melt Cosmetics ‘Dark Matter’ for my smokey eye fix.
Overall, you cannot beat this palette for the price. I cannot stress that enough. For roughly $30 (use a discount code like DUPETHAT at checkout for $$ off) you get 12 shadows (8 amazing / 4 pretty darn good) and you can play around with a whole spectrum of colors and formulas till your little heart bursts. Meanwhile, I’ll just be waiting for The Saharan 2 to release so I can keep getting my Juvia’s Place fix!
