First Impression: Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit ‘Sweets’

Beauty powerhouse Anastasia Beverly Hills just released her fourth and fifth Glow Kits last week to a bunch of frenzied beauty fanatics who bought them up like hotcakes! I purchased the ‘Sweets’ Glow Kit and I’m definitely loving it, but I can’t help but compare several of the shades to a few already in my collection. Is it worth the buy? Or can you get away with ‘the look for less’? Read on to find out!

I absolutely love the concept of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit – having four highlights in the same packaging, ready for travel – it’s great! I previously purchased ‘That Glow’ and it is so beautiful on deep skin, I highly recommend it. However, the Glow Kit in ‘Sweets’ is a little more fun and it’s got a mix of colors.
When I purchased it, I thought for sure I didn’t have any of these colors in my collection already. The announcement and release were a whirlwind so I hadn’t seen any swatches or any non-professional product shots before I hit that ‘Add to Cart button. Once I received and swatched it for myself, I realized that I had every single shade already! Talk about a bummer.

It’s different for me when I buy something that I know I already have, I set my expectations accordingly and I while it’s in transit, I can defend the entire purchase in 10 different languages by the time it arrives! I have time to convince myself that I needed yet another gold eyeshadow to keep the other nine gold shadows in my collection company.

But I didn’t mentally prep for that before this came so I have to admit, it was kind of a bummer when I swatched it. I pulled out my Z Palette filled with Looxi Beauty highlighters and it didn’t take long before I had dupes for everything.

This Glow Kit is a fantastic piece and I really like the pigmentation and shade selection, but you can purchase all these shades from Looxi for $30 AND support an indie makeup brand while doing it. Now you won’t get the cool packaging or name brand, but you will get the EXACT same glow!
