Auntie Jackie made sure Hot Girl Summer continued through fall and winter with her new eyeshadow palette collaboration with Anastasia Beverly Hills (ABH). Love it when another brown girl gets those coins!
This palette leaked on Sephora Canada’s website last week about two days ahead of the scheduled release date. That surely caused a lot of stress for the creators, but the world ate the news up! We’ve been waiting! I went ahead and scooped this palette from the ABH website ahead of the Sephora release on August 15th because I needed it in my hands immediately. And I’m absolutely thrilled to share my first impressions with you of this gorgeous 14-pan eyeshadow palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills and beauty influencer Jackie Aina.
At first swatch, I had zero issues with any of the shades on bare skin. I swatched on my inner arm and all the shadows spread evenly and were extremely pigmented. I pay extra close attention to matte formulas (especially on brown skin because they rarely show up true to color) and the mattes in this palette are outstanding. “Supreme” and “Big Wig” swatched flawlessly. “Edges” and “Ginger” and going to be those mainstay lid colors and I’m going to tear “Credit” up as a crease color – I can tell you that right now!
In terms of color pairings, the shade placement in the palette is thoughtful. The golden pinks on the left side will look lovely for a softer, romantic look that can start off daytime and get more dramatic for night. The right side of the palette is where we start to see the seasonal influence that makes this baby perfect for fall and winter.
“Lituation” and “Sponsored” are duochromes. Slather them all over your eyeballs. That’s it. That’s all the direction you will get from me.
Other standouts are the glitter metallics “Soleil”, “Dwollas” and “Zamn”. I love a good glitter metallic shade. While these colors aren’t really that unique (I have a few shades in my collection that are dupes, it’s nice to include them in the palette for easy access when you just want to complete your entire eye look with a single palette.
From the start I was going to purchase this palette to support one of my favorite influencers Jackie Aina. I have her E.L.F. and Artist Couture collaborations and really liked the color palette here so no shocker to me that I am in love with this product. Based on the performance of the swatches, I do have high hopes for the performance on the eyeballs. I believe this will become a staple for me the second half of 2019. We’re keeping it HOT here in in Austin!
