Get The Look: Top 8 Contouring Eyeshadows for Brown Girls

Ok, so it’s really nine, but who’s counting when you are sorting eyeshadows!? Below, I’ve listed by top eye contouring shades for brown girls. I’ve yet to come across a palette that has everything I need so I’m forced to provide you with shades from a handful of different brands (NYX Cosmetics, Looxi Beauty, Makeup Geek Cosmetics, MAC Cosmetics) to bring you eye contouring combinations for warm, neutral, and cool skin
undertones.

If you eye lids are darker than your face color, I’d suggest lightly patting a concealer that matches your face color over your lid before you apply any shadow. This will help even out your canvas and give you a clean slate to work on. The concealer will also act as a primer to help your shadow last all day without creasing or fading. The ONLY concealer that has consistently worked on my eyelids is the Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Concealer. It gives an absolutely flawless, full-coverage finish to my lids. When I have a tan, I will mix it with a little bit of MAC Pro Longwear Concealer to ensure that the color always matches my natural skin tone.

For each combination, I selected a brow bone highlight shade (left) that can also be used as a inner corner highlight to make the high points of your eyes stand out. The middle shade is meant for all over the lid and slightly up into the transition area. These lid shades should match (or be very close to) your natural skin tone. Lastly, I’ve included a contouring shade on the far right. This color can be used very lightly in the transition area of your eyelid (where you can feel your eye socket bone) to give it slight definition. You can also deepen this color on the outer corner/outer third of the eye to add some depth there as well.

All NYX and Looxi shadows are $5. Makeup Geek shadows are $6. MAC shadows are $16 (or purchase the pan separately for $10). The Looxi and Makeup Geek shadows will require you to have a magnetic palette for storage. Let me know if this is helpful to you guys! I love reading your comments.
