Review: Nicolet Beauty Lipsticks ‘Lodi’ & ‘Anderson’

I definitely have no business buying anymore lipsticks, but will I stop!? NEVER. I’ve recently discovered how many lipstick dupes I have  and it made me focus on finding and purchasing more unique colors to add to my collection. When I found out about Nicolet Beauty’s 30% off sale a few weeks ago, I took full advantage and selected two shades that I 100% knew I didn’t have .. yet! To see pics of my purchase, keep reading!

Seeing these one the website, I have to admit, I was a little unsure about the colors and the formulas. Lodi looked like a slight variation of a bunch of the other griege lipsticks I own (one of my favorite shade ranges) and Anderson might have been darker than my other purples, but it was hard to tell.

And then of course there was the issue of how these would look on my skin in comparison to swatches I’d seen!

Despite my worries, I went ahead and ordered from the company’s Etsy store and was excited when they arrived less than a week later.

I quickly opened Anderson first and swatched it next to purples already in my collection and I was very pleased that I don’t have anything as deep. It’s more of a smokey purple with ashy undertones instead of the more pink/purple & lavender shades I normally gravitate towards.

When I first swatched Lodi, I was expecting it to look exactly like MAC Cosmetics’s ‘Stone’ lipstick, but Lodi looked almost purple in comparison! Yes, it is a griege shade, but it has this very unique purple & grey combination that I’ve never seen before. When I applied Lodi to my lips, it went on like a purple-y mauve that was just a tad darker than my natural lip color. This shade makes for a great winter neutral when you want to switch up from the normal warm pink nudes of fall. On my skintone, I believe the shade is even work appropriate and this is the only griege shade I own that I’d place in the ‘work’ category.

As far as the formula, I would classify these as ultra matte lipsticks because they have a hard formula in the tube and won’t glide on your lips like a MAC satin formula. But they aren’t drying on the lips! They wear comfortably, but I’d say put on some chapstick before you apply one of these babies.
