When I find nude lipsticks that work on WOC, I get really excited. When I find EXCELLENT nude lipsticks for WOC, I scream, shout, and let it ALL out! So I’m going to share one of my newest finds thanks to indie makeup brand Baby Bat Beauty and their luscious lipstick ‘Bonfire Babe’. I’ve also got picks of some of their other lovely lipsticks as well. Keep reading for more plus pictures!
I’m always on the hunt for a perfect nude for my complexion and say a bunch of potential favorites on their website and starting jumping up and down with new makeup excitement. I’ve been working with these for about 2 weeks – testing them out for color, formula, wear, etc. – and feel pretty confident in saying that ‘Bonfire babe’ (seen above) is my new favorite nude.
My next favorite is ‘Indulge’. I’m a big fan of chocolate brown shades and I almost didn’t pick this up because I wanted to “try new things” and yada yada. But in the end, it won out and it doesn’t disappoint at all.
‘Innocence’ and ‘Apparition’ are cool-toned as opposed to the warmth of ‘Bonfire Babe’ and ‘Indulge’. I’d wear these two shades as a statement lip. They are both bold, but subtle at the same time and look great with ‘Stone’ lip pencil from MAC Cosmetics. I like ‘Apparition’ a bit more than ‘Innocence’ because it’s a deeper grey and I feel I can get away with it more. ‘Innocence’ is a near dupe for Lime Crime ‘Cashmere’.
One of the really cool things about this formula is that it’s a mega matte. No shine or shimmer here! These take after liquid mattes due to their dryness so moisturize before you apply otherwise you run the risk of dry, cracked lips after application. Other than that tid bit, I really like the mega matte formula! It reminds me a lot of Melt Cosmetics matte lipstick. If you are a fan of that formula, you will feel right at home in baby Bat Beauty’s loving arms!

Take a peek at the items in the collection below and prepare to spend your coins when this launches!
Have you ever seen the ’80’s classic film Flashdance? I’m sorry, that’s a stupid question. How many times have you seen the ’80’s classic film Flashdance? That’s a much better question! Sola Look recently collaborated with Paramount Pictures to bring the movie to life over 30 years after its release in the form of an eyeshadow palette. If that wasn’t reason enough to run to Sola Look’s site right now, they also collaborated with the person behind the most envied lips on Instagram, DepecheGurl, on a namesake liquid lipstick. Mind going into overload yet? No? Ok, great then you can keep reading for my review of both products!
Let’s tackle the palette first shall we?
‘Alex’ and ‘Maniac’ were ready to be swatched from the jump! ‘Alex’ is a cool beige and I have to admit I spent a little extra time figuring out how to use it, but I ended up using it as a transition color under ‘Jeanie’ to really make that color pop! I also used it as a matte brow highlight, but really blended it to ensure it didn’t flashback as a bright highlight in pictures. I’m still trying to figure out the best use of this one in my collection so I’ll get back to you all on that!
Finally, ‘Maniac’ is your non-black-winter-smokey-eye dream come true! Applied directly on the lid (over primer) gave me all sorts of Nutcracker feels and applied over a black base like I did below gave me that rich alternative to black that I love. Add some glitter or a metallic eyeshadow over this and wear it to a holiday party for a super sultry look.
The formula is very smooth! It is a liquid to matte so it does dry down completely! I ate a turkey sandwich with this on (not super oily) and it stayed put. I also think this shade goes wonderfully with the cool Flashdance palette! It gives you the ability to go full on the eyes and balance with a neutral lip.
Interested in getting your very own palette and / or lipstick for yourself? You can purchase any of the Sola Look products I mentioned on their website!

One of the standout eye palettes this year was the Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette released back in April. I was absolutely crushed it sold out before I could purchase, but it will be returning this holiday season in all its glory. And its not coming back alone! Too Faced has creating an entire collection (praise!) around the magnificent smell of a Georgia peach orchard at peak season. For more about the collection (with pictures), keep reading!
