First of all, let’s get my gushing about the packaging out of the way. Packaging = breathtaking! So colorful, the bullet has this watercolor-type drip with all combinations of pinks, orange, yellow, blue, and green. I’m a big fan!

Next, my impression of the actual lipstick. ‘Plum Princess’ is listed as a matte finish on the MAC website, however, upon application, it is much creamier than the traditional MAC matte. So I’d actually classify it as a satin finish, with the color payoff of a traditional amplified finish. I did have to apply two layers of lipstick because it was a tad bit sheer. I would recommend pairing this with a lip liner and completely/almost completely lining your lips and then applying this on top. That will help boost the color payoff and make the color last longer on your lips. I’ve been digging a slight ombre lip lately, so I paired it with ‘Nightmoth’ lip liner from MAC. You can see the blended effect in the pictures below, but know that I didn’t apply ‘Nightmoth’ to my entire lip, just around the borders.

I was a little surprised that this didn’t sell out as quickly as past summer collections. I was convinced that at least ‘Plum Princess’ and the translucent pressed powder compact would sell out pretty fast, but both are still in stock more than one week after release. Hopefully, this is a sign that MAC has finally woken up and is producing more product!

Let me know in the comments below which lip liner you would like to see paired with this lipstick! I need creative inspiration!
