Review: Baby Bat Beauty Lipsticks

When I find nude lipsticks that work on WOC, I get really excited. When I find EXCELLENT nude lipsticks for WOC, I scream, shout, and let it ALL out! So I’m going to share one of my newest finds thanks to indie makeup brand Baby Bat Beauty and their luscious lipstick ‘Bonfire Babe’. Baby Bat Beauty was kind enough to send me a few of their lipsticks to test out and I was like ‘SEND NUDES’.

I’m always on the hunt for a perfect nude for my complexion and say a bunch of potential favorites on their website and starting jumping up and down with new makeup excitement. I’ve been working with these for about 2 weeks – testing them out for color, formula, wear, etc. – and feel pretty confident in saying that ‘Bonfire babe’  is my new favorite nude.

As you can see in the arm swatches above, ‘Bonfire Babe’ looked really orange on me. I was a little hesitant at first to try it on my lips so I paired it with MAC Lip Pencil in ‘Chestnut’ to tame it a little and bring it back to my neutral skintone. Once I paired it with ‘Chestnut’, it looked like a dream! Very close to my skintone and a perfect pairing for a daring eye look!
My next favorite is ‘Indulge’. I’m a big fan of chocolate brown shades and I almost didn’t pick this up because I wanted to “try new things” and yada yada. But in the end, it won out and it doesn’t disappoint at all.

‘Innocence’ and ‘Apparition’ are cool-toned as opposed to the warmth of ‘Bonfire Babe’ and ‘Indulge’. I’d wear these two shades as a statement lip. They are both bold, but subtle at the same time and look great with ‘Stone’ lip pencil from MAC Cosmetics. I like ‘Apparition’ a bit more than ‘Innocence’ because it’s a deeper grey and I feel I can get away with it more. ‘Innocence’ is a near dupe for Lime Crime ‘Cashmere’.

One of the really cool things about this formula is that it’s a mega matte. No shine or shimmer here! These take after liquid mattes due to their dryness so moisturize before you apply otherwise you run the risk of dry, cracked lips after application. Other than that tid bit, I really like the mega matte formula! It reminds me a lot of Melt Cosmetics matte lipstick. If you are a fan of that formula, you will feel right at home in baby Bat Beauty’s loving arms!
