The Becca Cosmetics x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette will release in May 2017. The palette will retail for $46 USD and will be available wherever Becca Cosmetics is sold. The palette is limited edition.
Glow lovers everywhere have awaited the release of Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in ‘Aurora’. The Glow Kit’s shade selection is reminiscent of the aurora borealis so if you want a Northern Lights glow, you better get with the program and check this beauty out! I’ve been testing some of the shades over the past week and can’t wait to share my thoughts on this palette below!
In 2017, we are continuing the ‘Year of the Glow’ at SBD headquarters. It’s only right that all retailers do the same! Anastasia Beverly Hills clearly got the memo because the brand is about to release their second Glow Kit of the year: Aurora. This 6-pan palette is described as the Moonchild Glow Kit’s ‘sister’ due to the similar holographic shade range they share between them. I’m a fan of Moonchild, so it’s safe to say that I will be picking this one up as well. Keep scrolling for pictures!
After months of teasing, Sola Look has finally released details on their much-anticipated Dirty Dancing collection. If you remember the brand’s all-matte Flashdance collab, you are in for a real treat this time. I wasn’t ready for the goodness that makes up an eye and face palette PLUS a liquid lipstick and I don’t think you will be either. This collection is a must see for all my Dirty Dancing lovers out there! Keep reading for more pictures of the palette shades and the lipstick!
I must admit I went a little crazy when one of my favorite brands announced a collaboration with one of my favorite YouTubers. Excited probably isn’t even the word for my feelings around the debut of the ‘Nicole Glow’ Glow Kit from Anastasia Beverly Hills and Nicole Guerriero. Now that I have my hands on the actual highlighter palette, I’m ready to give you my thoughts so you can decide if you want to purchase for yourself. Keep reading for my two cents and loads of swatches.
The Anastasia Beverly Hills x Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit ‘Nicole Glow’ will release online March 3, 2017 on anastasiabeverlyhills.com and sephora.com. It will be available in Sephora stores March 15, 2017. It will retail for $40. ‘Nicole Glow’ is limited edition.
Hold on to your hats! Anastasia Beverly Hills and popular beauty vlogger Nicole Guerriero are sweeping through with a collaboration guaranteed to have you shinning from here to the sun. A brand new glow kit – dubbed ‘Nicole Glow’ – is releasing this spring. The six-pan palette features all brand new shades in a formula similar to Anastasia’s previously released Sweets Glow Kit. Oh Viseart, how I love thee! Seriously you guys. If I could purchase all of the palettes from this spectacular brand, I would. They have all the pigmentation a gal could dream for! Back to the review at hand – Viseart recently launched a highlight and sculpting palette that has everything you need to snatch your cheekbones! I grabbed it at The Makeup Show Dallas and I’ve been crushing ever since. Want to see it in all its glory? Scroll for more!
If that is at all similar to what’s going on in your head right now, you probably have already heard of Viseart. If not, allow me to make the introduction! Viseart produces palettes that cover everything about the face. Their “larger” (I use these terms loosely because the palette will still fit in the size of your palm) palettes contain 12 shades of either lipstick, foundation / concealer, or eyeshadow. They also have six-pan palettes with blushes for every skintone and this highlight / sculpting palette which I’m getting to. 😉
Enough raving about these beauties, I’ll finish with my strongest point. I’ve not had the success with pigmentation on brown skin with any other brand that I’ve had with Viseart. Especially among their matte shadows. The colors you see in the pan you will see on your face – even for my brown beauties. So often we will see colors that look great in the pan, swatch beautifully, then fade on application when blended. Viseart shadows don’t do that. They stay put and you can wash that color along its merry way and it will stay strong!
The same goes with this palette. The sculpting shades are buttery smooth and the deepest one is my new go-to contour shade. It’s neutral – so not cool enough to make me look ashy and not warm enough to make my face look bigger instead of smaller. The middle shade is pretty much a match to my skintone so another one that I can use to either set my foundation / concealer or use as a base for my shadows.
The highlights in this palette are beautiful! Even the pink in the middle warms on my skin rather than looking cool and off balance. It also doesn’t flash back in photos which is a first for my skin color and a cool highlight! And you already know that the gold shade and I are going to have a ton of fun!
One of the standout eye palettes this year was the Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette released back in April. I was absolutely crushed it sold out before I could purchase, but it will be returning this holiday season in all its glory. And its not coming back alone! Too Faced has creating an entire collection (praise!) around the magnificent smell of a Georgia peach orchard at peak season. For more about the collection (with pictures), keep reading!
Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Glow Kits are all the rage this summer. She promised a glowing summer and the Glow Kits sure did deliver! I currently own ‘That Glow’ and ‘Sweets’ and have been back and forth with myself on whether to purchase ‘Sun Dipped’. While I really loved the kit, I felt like ‘That Glow’ covered all my bronze goddess needs. But then my girl Tiny hooked me up with the only color in the kit that I HAD to have – Bronzed – and I was golden! Want to see what it looked like on me? Keep reading for a blinding swatch!
Bronzed is a bit deeper than Golden Bronze from the ‘That Glow’ kit and it has a tad bit of copper in it, which aids in its reflectiveness. It isn’t incredibly shimmery and doesn’t have any large glittery chunks in it so if you are worried about pore emphasis – worry no more. The formula is smooth, but not buttery, which makes it buildable and perfect for when you want to throw a sheer coat onto your cheek bones, but will work just as well if you want to slather this all over your body (I must admit, I thought about it). What do you guys think of this color? I’m mesmerized! If you purchased the full ‘Sun Dipped’ Glow Kit, let me know your favorite shade in the comments!
One of our favorite black beauty bloggers Jackie Aina has collabed with e.l.f. Cosmetics to bring us the perfect eye & cheek palette! This super compact, travel-ready palette is packed with some unexpected colors that are meant to inspire your inner *J.GLOW*. Want to see my first impression and swatches? Keep scrolling!
Yes, their prices ensure everyone can purchase whatever their heart desires, but I’d rather pay more for better quality makeup. No knock to ELF, they found their niche and stuck with it! But with so many other brands packed with quality and competitive prices, I always walk right past the ELF displays in the drugstore.
Not going to lie, I was a little surprised by Jackie Aina’s announcement that she was collabing with ELF Cosmetics on a palette. And her reason partially being that she was impressed by ELF’s commitment to quality – I was left shaking my head! Was this palette going to be a game-changer? Was ELF going to ramp up its powder formula for my melanin makeup lovers? I NEEDED to know the answers so of course I purchased two palettes to test. And by test, I mean support Jackie with my coins. =)
First impression – I didn’t love the palette. The taupe matte and shimmer colors leave me wanting more pigmentation. The matte was especially chalky, it flaked the first time I swatched it, and would not grab on to my shadow brush to save its life. But, was I expecting NARS quality shadows for $6? No, I came into this with realistic expectations and loving the entire palette was not one of them.
If you think about it, I would happily pay $5 for one shadow from a Looxi or a ColourPop, so if I could just find ONE diamond in the rough, the palette would have been worth it. I can happily say the cool sapphire shade more than did it for me. The color is beauuuutiiful on brown skin and the pigmentation is perfect. I could pick it up with my finger for a swatch just as easily as swipe my brush into it. Another winner, the matte cool brown. I already have a ton of deep browns, but not many cool-toned ones. I was happy with the color payoff and overall how it performed on my skin.
Would I buy this palette again knowing that I only likes 2/5 shades? Absolutely, no hesitation YES. I could hate all the shades and still purchase this. Why? Because I want to support Jackie and if spending my money to support a fellow black beauty blogger will show brands that there is value in the collaboration then I will happily throw my $6 at them! I hope to see more from Jackie in the future and if this palette does re-stock, I hope you will purchase it as well!
