Review: Looxi Beauty Highlighters and Eyeshadows

I got some more eyeshadows and some brand new highlighter shades to share with you guys from my newest brand obsession, Looxi Beauty! Looxi has some of the best quality shadows for only $5 each! And there may or may not be a dupe for Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop in here somewhere too! So I suggest you keep reading ; )

After my last purchase of Looxi shadows which I have been talking about incessantly on Instagram since the first day I swatched them, I began plotting my second purchase like the makeup psycho I am! However, before I share my follow up purchase with you guys, I received some goodies from Looxi owner Jessica that I would LOVE to share with you guys! I got them yesterday and I’ve had everything on my face for the past 24 hours. I was most definitely wearing two different highlights on each cheek yesterday and I was totally fine with it because it’s makeup research! hehe

If you aren’t familiar with Looxi yet, you should definitely check out some of my previous posts and swatches. The company started up earlier this year with shimmer shadows and several highlights and they have recently expanded their highlight selection and added matte shadows.

Let me start by showing you the eyeshadows I got!

I cannot begin to share how dramatic I was when I first swatched ‘Obsessed’. I was in love within seconds. The shade swatched like silk and it held its pigmentation even without a primer (btw, I swatched all these without primer). ‘Obsessed’ is a baby pink champagne will lots of silver reflects and it makes a stellar inner corner highlight or lid color.Next, I got ‘Malibu’ which is a color I haven’t seen before from any brand! It is a baby blue with a gold shift in it that makes it so unique! I had it all over my lid yesterday in the name of research! Even though it has a slight shift in it, I wouldn’t say this is completely duochrome, but it has that feel and over the right base, the shift may be intensified.

My first matte shade from Looxi is ‘Truffle’. I’d say Jessica hit this one spot on when she picked it because I am going to kill this as a transition shade. It is surprisingly hard for me to find a warm chocolate brown shadow that is deep enough to be used as a transition on my skin tone. Most of the time, I have to pick a color that has a cool brown or a reddish tint to it to make it show up. But this color will work perfectly when I want to work with a warm, standout lid color.

‘Hustler’ was the one shade that wasn’t like the others. Unfortunately, it was not showing up on my skin tone. It is a cool, pale purple that might be better suited to adding a wash of color to fairer skin. I even tried it with a primer, but that didn’t help it much. Might be best to skip on that one.

If you love jewel tones (especially for fall and winter), you should go ahead and add ‘Sapphire’ to your cart now! This shimmery royal blue was intensely pigmented without feeling heavy on the lid.

Moving on to highlighters, my love affair with Looxi continues …

Looxi Beauty ‘Bombshell’ & ‘Valley Girl’ highlighters.
Swatched heavy and blended out.
These highlighters are epic. I don’t have anything else to say!I’ve purchased lots of highlighters from small companies and, for some reason, they are too glittery for me. They don’t compare in quality to the products of higher end brands. However, these two shades from Looxi were incredible and balanced shimmer with wear-ability. I can actually wear either of these day-to-day.

‘Bombshell’ is even a dupe for the much hyped Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfecter ‘Champagne Pop’! And ‘Bombshell’ is $15, running $23 less than ‘Champagne Pop’. If you are on a budget, ‘Bombshell’ will give you more bang for your buck.
