Review: Younique Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palette 3

All eyeshadows are not created equal and for that reason, some of you might be hesitant to try products from a new brand. However, sometimes it’s good to switch up your daily routine and see what other makeup products dot the horizon. That’s exactly what I decided to do with my latest review. And let me tell you, I was blown away with the Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palette 3. Read on to find out why!

I know some of you are raising your eyebrows about the subject of this post. We’ve all seen some of the crazy things you can do with fiber mascara! However, Younique has expanded their line of products and have recently released a three piece line of 7-pan eyeshadow palettes and I was blessed enough to try one of the palettes and I can confidently say it can compete with the best of them.

The pigmentation of the Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palette 3 was so shocking to me, I had to swatch it three times just to make sure my eyes weren’t playing tricks on me! I mean I was open to trying it out, but it was really up in the air how much I would like it. Especially in comparison to the 4756102 palettes I already own. However, I can think of a bunch of uses for this little guy.

For one, I can travel with it. The palette size is significantly smaller than all of my other palettes. The small size only allows for seven shadows (compared to the ten from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Tamana Palette or the 12 from my Patti Dubroff Spotlight Palette), but unlike those palettes, you can fit this one in a normal size purse which makes it perfect for traveling. Its also got a good size mirror on the flip up top and I used it to do my eyeshadow yesterday and it worked perfectly since I was rushing in the morning and didn’t have time to pull out and turn on my big lighted mirror.

Now the real reason I’m so hype about this palette is because of the shadows. The palette features a mix of shadow textures: three matte, two shimmer, and two metallic. The metallic shadows are insane. Those really blew my mind! They apply beautifully dry, but add some Fix+ to those bad boys and it creates the foiled eye look that is very on trend right now.The palette has a good mix of colors as well so you could create an entire eye look with just these seven colors. However, for us darker skinned beauties, you might want to keep a separate transition and crease color on hand. The provided transition shade is a very pale pink matte that would look great on fairer skin. The only dark color is an intense matte black and using that as a crease color can be intimidating to some beginning artists. I wish Younique had added a matte plum shade instead of the black, but other than that, I think the color selection is great!

The texture of the shadows reminds me very much of Anastasia Beverly Hills. The matte shadows aren’t velvety, but they aren’t dry. They are still pigmented and don’t apply streaky to the eye. The shimmer and metallic shades are very powdery so be prepared from some fallout (a lot with the metallic ones). But those four shades applied beautifully to my eye. Application as very even and smooth across the board.

The palette comes in three different color families (smoky, cool pink, warm brown). Even though these are great for travel, they are also great for every day. Especially if you commute to work and do your makeup in a car or on the subway. These palettes would be a great investment for that purpose.

So now that I have (hopefully) opened your eyes about the other products offered by Younique, let me know your thoughts in the comments! Are you digging the shadow palette?

If you are interested in purchasing, I’d suggest going through the my favorite Younique presenter, Latricia D. You can order right from her website or connect with her via Instagram, Facebook, or email. Any of the Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palettes can be purchased directly from her for $49 each or $130 for all three.

  • Thank you so much for this candid review. I’ve learned a lot myself and looking to future reviews of Younique’s amazing new products – we are much more than mascara.

  • I was looking for reviews of this palette and just had to comment on how stunning you look! The looks you’ve created with this palette bring out such a beautiful glow 🙂 Lovely!

  • I agree completely with your review. I am an extremely fair skin girl and I think a dark plum instead of the black would have made this palette so much better! My biggest annoyance is that at the price I wouldn’t have expected such a huge fall out from the metallic shadows! When using this palette I will have to do my eyes first then my foundation.
You look absolutely stunning in these pictures.
