Younique’s new Royalty Exfoliating Mask is here to give you baby soft skin

I was SOUND ASLEEEP on Younique until Latricia from Milady’s Beauty Studio opened my eyes to their line of beauty and skincare products last year! I’ve had the chance to try their eyeshadows, lipticks, and more. But I’ve been most pleased with their face masks.

After giving their bubble, detoxifying mask a go last year, it quickly became a staple in my mask routine. Less harsh than Glam Glow’s mud masks, but still the perfect mid-week skin pick me up. Now, I’ve gotten my hands on the brand new Younique Royalty Exfoliating Mask and my life has changed. I’ve been using this once a week for the past three or four weeks now and I feel confident enough to tell you that I love it.

Skincare Series: Younique Detoxifying Mask

One of my favorite treats is masking. It’s easy, simple, and a few candles, mood lighting, and a great mask makes for a relaxing evening! Not to mention how amazing it makes you skin feel. I’ve tried a handful of masks on my face – different masks for different purposes – but still my favorite type is a good charcoal detox mask. Nothing quite vaccums my pores like it! I had the opportunity to try out Younique’s detoxifying mask and I recorded a video with my first impression so you can see it in action.

Review: Younique Moodstruck Opulence Lipstick ‘Swanky’

Fall is here! Time to put away those pastel purples and hot pinks lips in favor of brick red and vampy purples. I’m excited because we are entering my favorite time of year and I can’t be ready enough for all the fall makeup looks coming at me from left and right! As you transition your makeup, I’ve got a color that will go perfectly with that Pumpkin Spice Latte (‘PSL’ for all us addicts!) in your hand. Keep reading to see more pics!

I’m so ready to switch to my fall makeup I can’t even tell you!

I’m ready to pull out ‘Living Legend’ by MAC and wear it everywhere with ‘Nightmoth’ liner. You will easily catch me wearing ‘Viva Glam 1’ lipstick 2-3 times a week. ‘Unicorn Blood’ by Jeffree Star Cosmetics will be in my purse at all times and ‘Soul’ lipstick will finally be seeing the light on day via my lips since I purchased it at the end of spring.

I’ve already started shifting around my Z Palette and Bitter Lace Beauty magnetic palettes for ease of access to my cool brown and cranberry shades. I’m really into this weather change if you can’t tell!

But somewhere in my list of lipsticks to wear this fall, I’ve got to make room for ‘Swanky’ by Younique.

I received this rusty orange/red brown lipstick that I am doing a terrible job at describing because I just can’t put my finger on the right color description of this unique shade.

In indoor light, it pulls more brown on me. Outside, it’s a rusty orange. I tried my best to photograph its true color, but it was hard to capture.

Some of this color changing could also be attributed to the ultra fine holographic glitter particles that change the lipstick colors.  I tend to stay away from metallic or glittery lipsticks so I don’t have many other shades to compare it to with this type of finish. I’ve included a swatch comparison picture of the very limited number of lipsticks that I have which are even remotely similar to this color. I’ve also included a picture below that is purposely out of focus to show you the glitter particles. The shimmer isn’t instantly noticeable and is actually very subtle on the lips. I’m definitely more of a matte lipstick kinda gal (as you can probably tell by my favorite fall lipstick choices above) so I was surprised that the holographic glitter didn’t drive me crazy. It’s always nice to switch it up sometimes!

The formula of the lipstick was very creamy. I was swatching my matte Black Up lipsticks right before I put this on and ‘Swanky’ had the same creaminess as my Black Up lippies. But creaminess has a price and, unfortunately, the lipstick tip started breaking off as I was applying it to my lips for the first time. When I received this product, it came with instructions to let the lipstick sit for 24 hours before application because the creamy formula had most likely softened while in transit.

Now I don’t buy a ton of lipsticks, but this recommendation was the first I’ve ever seen included in the packaging of a lipstick. But I went with it and let the lipstick sit untouched for about 30 hours until it was time to begin testing it out in anticipation of this review. I was very disappointed that the tip began breaking with just the first use. I expect that of much cheaper quality drugstore-type lipsticks. Not from one that retails for $19.

If you are inclined to purchase this, let it sit for double the recommended time in a cool dry place just to make sure that the formula has enough time to set before use. If you want to add this shade to your fall lineup, I’d suggest going through the my favorite Younique presenter, Latricia D. You can order right from her website or connect with her via Instagram, Facebook, or email. Any of the Moodstruck Opulence lipsticks can be purchased directly from her for $19 each.

Review: Younique Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palette 3

All eyeshadows are not created equal and for that reason, some of you might be hesitant to try products from a new brand. However, sometimes it’s good to switch up your daily routine and see what other makeup products dot the horizon. That’s exactly what I decided to do with my latest review. And let me tell you, I was blown away with the Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palette 3. Read on to find out why!

I know some of you are raising your eyebrows about the subject of this post. We’ve all seen some of the crazy things you can do with fiber mascara! However, Younique has expanded their line of products and have recently released a three piece line of 7-pan eyeshadow palettes and I was blessed enough to try one of the palettes and I can confidently say it can compete with the best of them.

The pigmentation of the Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palette 3 was so shocking to me, I had to swatch it three times just to make sure my eyes weren’t playing tricks on me! I mean I was open to trying it out, but it was really up in the air how much I would like it. Especially in comparison to the 4756102 palettes I already own. However, I can think of a bunch of uses for this little guy.

For one, I can travel with it. The palette size is significantly smaller than all of my other palettes. The small size only allows for seven shadows (compared to the ten from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Tamana Palette or the 12 from my Patti Dubroff Spotlight Palette), but unlike those palettes, you can fit this one in a normal size purse which makes it perfect for traveling. Its also got a good size mirror on the flip up top and I used it to do my eyeshadow yesterday and it worked perfectly since I was rushing in the morning and didn’t have time to pull out and turn on my big lighted mirror.

Now the real reason I’m so hype about this palette is because of the shadows. The palette features a mix of shadow textures: three matte, two shimmer, and two metallic. The metallic shadows are insane. Those really blew my mind! They apply beautifully dry, but add some Fix+ to those bad boys and it creates the foiled eye look that is very on trend right now.

The palette has a good mix of colors as well so you could create an entire eye look with just these seven colors. However, for us darker skinned beauties, you might want to keep a separate transition and crease color on hand. The provided transition shade is a very pale pink matte that would look great on fairer skin. The only dark color is an intense matte black and using that as a crease color can be intimidating to some beginning artists. I wish Younique had added a matte plum shade instead of the black, but other than that, I think the color selection is great!

The texture of the shadows reminds me very much of Anastasia Beverly Hills. The matte shadows aren’t velvety, but they aren’t dry. They are still pigmented and don’t apply streaky to the eye. The shimmer and metallic shades are very powdery so be prepared from some fallout (a lot with the metallic ones). But those four shades applied beautifully to my eye. Application as very even and smooth across the board.

The palette comes in three different color families (smoky, cool pink, warm brown). Even though these are great for travel, they are also great for every day. Especially if you commute to work and do your makeup in a car or on the subway. These palettes would be a great investment for that purpose.

So now that I have (hopefully) opened your eyes about the other products offered by Younique, let me know your thoughts in the comments! Are you digging the shadow palette?
