Review: Beauty Escape Cosmetics Highlighters – ‘Chimera’, ‘Prima Donna’ and ‘Lorelei’

I was introduced to Beauty Escape Cosmetics by my bangin’ blogger boo @angelamarytanner and haven’t looked back! Beauty Escape Cosmetics makes some gorgeous shadows and highlighters, including several highlighters that slay on brown skin. I ordered three to test out for you guys and I will definitely be purchasing again! Keep reading to find out why and see some face swatches!

Beauty Escape Cosmetics (BEC) is a newer addition to the indie cosmetics game, but that hasn’t stopped them from having a full shelf of products for sale already. They are primarily killing the shadow and highlight game right now with some duochromes that indies typically don’t touch for the first few months.
Well, BEC came out the gate with them so bloop.

For example, their limited edition highlighter in Prima Donna (currently sold out) is a peach gold with a pink shift. It surprisingly wears well on a ton of skin tones and seems to look different (but still highly flattering) on everyone. You can see some of the shift in the photo I have above, but in the sun this color just completely transforms. On my cheeks it turns more golden and looses some of the pink, which is fine by me because warmer tones suit me better.

Next up is Chimera which is a pure peach gold (no shift) and it is perfect for tan to dark skintones. When I got these about a month ago, I wasn’t as tan as I am now and this would probably look a little less blinding on my non-tan self. But is that going to stop me from wearing it? Absolutely not.
This particular shade is the brightest I ordered and while it did well with camera, I can see some potential issues for flashback in the future (making your face look lighter or washed out in flash photography). So be aware of that before you wear it when you know you will be taking tons of pics. However, this shade is going to be perfect mixed with a little moisturizer for a pool day. I *might* have done that yesterday and my melanin was POPPING.

Just foundation selfie of ‘Chimera’ on my cheekbones. Check the brightness. Bling, bling.

The final product I ordered was one of the deepest shades BEC offered and I’m here to tell y’all this is a must purchase. ‘Lorelei’ (currently sold out) is a true deep bronze gold that is extraordinarily flattering on brown skin. The color is buildable so you can get away with one swipe for day-to-day wear all the way to 3-4 swipes of the brush to ensure everyone in the room can see your amazing cheekbones.
This is my favorite one of the three I ordered because it was created specifically for brown skin and I always love when companies (indie and otherwise) take into consideration the brown beauties! ‘Lorelei’ is amazing with my tan! Check my swatch below for about three swipes of the brush across my face.
